Completed training through the Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and joined as a volunteer. The Mercury Team is part of an organized system of individuals trained in crisis intervention to assist first responders deal with the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional consequences to some of the most challenging 911 related events. Some of these critical incidents include:
injury to a first responder
officer involved shooting
first responder suicide
death of a child
death of a coworker
mass casualty incidents
line of duty death
significant loss of property or apparatus
prolonged exposure to a traumatic event
excessive media pressure

Discussion regarding how COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2, the requisite social distancing, compounded by the dangers that front-line healthcare and emergency workers have in transmitting this virus to their loved ones, has resulted in vulnerable segments of our society being completely isolated. This was an appeal and a call-to-action for members of the World Merit community to address this concern.
